Privacy
This site is deliberately frugal: no cookies, no tracking, no analytics and no content from third-party servers. Fonts, images, stylesheets and the only script come from this server only.
Light and dark mode
A small script switches between the light and the dark design on request. When you choose a look with the icon in the header, your browser stores that choice locally (in so-called local storage) so it stays the same on other pages. Only the value “light” or “dark” is stored; it is not sent to the server and not analysed. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings. Without your choice nothing is stored and the site follows your system setting. The legal basis is § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act), as storing it is strictly necessary for the function you explicitly requested.

What is logged when you visit
When a page is requested, the web server (a reverse proxy in front of this site) logs technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, HTTP status code, amount of data transferred, referrer and browser identification (user agent). This data is used only to run the site securely, for example to detect attacks and errors. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is a stable and secure operation of the site.
The logs are rotated weekly and deleted after about five weeks at the latest. They are not analysed for any other purpose, combined with other data or passed on.
Hosting
The server is located in a data centre of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. Hetzner processes the data as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR. The TLS certificate is issued by Let’s Encrypt; no visitor data is transmitted in the process.
Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and to object (Art. 21 GDPR). Please contact the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in Rhineland-Palatinate the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
